From the perspective of "spirit and style", the ceramic artist, Chao Sun, was an important factor during Francis Chen's preparation and planning days of Franz Porcelain. Sun has worked in the National Palace Museum for years and has conducted systematic research into the techniques of ceramic firing applied throughout the Chinese dynasties. Sun's work has gained attention from prestigious museums all over the world. The German Staatliche Museum and Ubersee Museum Bremen offered individual exhibitions for him; the British Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the most famous ceramic Museum---Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse NY---all collect his works.

The solid friendship between Sun and Chen resulted in Sun becoming the Art Consultant for Franz Porcelain. Sun's expertise greatly influences the artistic cultivation of the company's output, both in form and content, as he encourages Franz Porcelain to produce works accented with modernity while applying a state-of-the-art manufacturing process.
